Magic Potion Isopods (Armadillidium vulgare ‘Magic Potion’) are a hardy and visually distinctive variety that adapt well when provided with stable humidity, a nutritious diet, and a secure enclosure. They remain active and healthy within a temperature range of

15–27°C (60–80°F), making them suitable for most indoor setups. Humidity should be maintained between 70–80% to support their moisture needs, with both damp and slightly drier areas available so the colony can regulate itself naturally.

A deep, moisture‑retentive substrate is essential. A blend of coco fibre soil, peat moss, and leaf litter provides the structure and humidity balance they require. Regular additions of clean, pesticide‑free leaf litter encourage natural grazing behaviour and help maintain a healthy micro‑ecosystem.

Their diet should include a mix of fruits, vegetables, and decaying plant matter to ensure balanced nutrition. These foods support growth, reproduction, and overall colony stability. A secure glass or plastic terrarium with a ventilated lid offers the airflow they need while keeping humidity levels consistent.
