The Red Panda King (Cubaris sp.) is a striking and sought‑after isopod known for its bold black‑and‑white patterning and distinctive behaviour. They thrive when kept in a terrarium that closely mimics the damp, layered structure of a forest floor. A substrate blend of peat moss, coconut coir, and sphagnum moss works well, providing both moisture retention and burrowing depth. The substrate should be three to four inches deep and kept consistently moist without becoming waterlogged.
High humidity is essential for this species, ideally around 75% or higher. Regular misting or the use of a humidifier helps maintain the necessary moisture levels. Temperatures between 18-26c keep the colony active and stable, and the enclosure should be kept out of direct sunlight to prevent overheating. Low‑level lighting is sufficient and helps them feel secure.
Their diet should be rich in protein, including fish flakes, shrimp pellets, and dried mealworms, along with fresh vegetables such as carrot, zucchini, squash, and sweet potato. This variety supports healthy growth, moulting, and reproduction.
All shipped will include all life stages to help support a healthy, strong starter colony.
